With Marvel's The Defenders expected to arrive in mid-to-late 2017, we have been assuming that its filming would begin during the final months of 2016. Well, the good news is that the crossover miniseries' production is finally underway under the working title Group Therapy.
No, neither Marvel nor Netflix has officially announced that the The Defenders is in production. Rather, we have a photo captured from the show's New York set that serves as confirmation. Reddit user reallywittyusername1 has shared the set photo.
The photo doesn't feature more than one member of The Defenders, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones. The actress is spotted wearing the leather jacket, jeans, and scarf that she has routinely worn as her troubled powerhouse in the standalone series.
While we shouldn't expect Ritter's Jessica or Mike Colter's Luke Cage to put on any kind of superhero suits in The Defenders, we can hope that Charlie Cox' Daredevil and Finn Jones' Iron Fist will be costumed members of the team. Check out the set photo below!
Marvel may not have announced The Defenders' production kick-off, but they have confirmed the appearance of two supporting characters from previous shows. Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page from Marvel's Daredevil and Simone Missick's Misty Knight from Marvel's Luke Cage will be a part of the eight-episode miniseries. Marvel has announced that by posting a motion poster on their official social media accounts. You can check it out below!

Karen Page is the second supporting character from the world of Daredevil to have been confirmed for The Defenders, with Elden Henson's Foggy Nelson being the first. Page will also be appearing in Marvel's The Punisher.
Simone Missick, on the other hand, had actually revealed that she would be appearing in The Defenders in an interview with The Wrap back in September. She was a bit concerned about getting fired for spilling the beans, but Marvel, thankfully, hasn't been that harsh!
Eka Darville's Malcolm Ducasse from Marvel's Jessica Jones is another supporting character who has been confirmed for The Defenders. Sigourney Weaver will portray the mysterious big baddie.
