While everybody has their eyes on the Justice League teasers in anticipation of the full trailer, the future may not be so bright for actors involved in another DCEU project. And that project is The Batman.

Most recently, Ben Affleck stepped down from the director's chair. He was replaced by Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), who apparently negotiated for full control over the reboot. Furthermore, it was announced that the script would be rewritten from scratch, and the film itself was further delayed (Can we hope for a 2019 release?).

J.K. Simmons (who portrayed J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy) talked with Screen Crush about Commissioner Gordon. The character is barely introduced in the upcoming Justice League movie, and the actor isn't so certain about Gordon's future:

My part in the first film coming out this fall is very, very small"¦It's a little introduction of the character. But whenever the next one gets off the ground, whether it's The Batman or the Justice League sequel, and I know those things are getting shuffled around right now"¦we thought we might be getting to work pretty soon on The Batman, but we'll see what the future brings. Hopefully that'll be another comic book character that I get to take two or three or four cracks at.

While J.K. Simmons still hopes that he'll return in future DCEU movies, actor Joe Manganiello doesn't know if he'll appear as Deathstroke in any film at all. He was asked again and again after Affleck’s departure as director whether the role would still find its way into The Batman, and repeatedly responded that he would indeed play the character. But now, Joe Manganiello isn't so sure about this.

The rumor is that he won't be starring in that particular movie. That’s why Warner Bros. gave him a role in the upcoming Dwayne The Rock Johnson flick Rampage.
