Emily VanCamp: “Hard to Fit” Sharon Carter into Avengers: Infinity War!

Emily VanCamp says that it's hard to fit Sharon Carter into Avengers: Infinity War!

We've seen several teasers about the number of characters in Avengers: Infinity War. There may be as many as 60, but it looks as though Sharon Carter won’t be among them!

Asked during a recent Build interview whether her character would appear in the third Avengers installment, Emily VanCamp offered no firm confirmation or denial, but she did appear to hint that there wasn’t room for Carter in the movie.

The Canadian actress said that Sharon Carter was ideally suited to appear in a Captain America movie, but incorporating the character into the upcoming May 4, 2018 release might not be an easy task. She added that she had faith in the Russo Brothers and had heard good things about their latest project:

It’s hard to fit Sharon into that. She’s really in Cap’s world. I can't say anything about anything, but I'll say that she sort of fits into the Captain America movies – that’s where her sort of story lies. But I can tell you it’s going to be like an epic two-parter. From everything I hear, it's going to be amazing. The Russo Brothers are phenomenal. They can do no wrong, really. So I'm excited to see it.

More than a decade ago, Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt played siblings Amy and Bright Abbott in The WB's Everwood. Around that time, they were also a romantic item, but their Marvel Cinematic Universe characters have yet to cross paths. When the interviewer mentioned the possibility of Sharon Carter and Pratt's Star-Lord fighting side-by-side on the big-screen, VanCamp had this to say:

That would be great. Bright and Amy fighting alongside each other – that would be epic.

Here’s that interview clip!

The 31-year-old actress also avoided providing a straightforward YES or NO answer when asked whether she would  about her appear in Avengers: Infinity War during a panel at the recent Television Critics Association press tour (via Deadline):

Marvel can call at any minute.

While VanCamp's statements seem to indicate that Sharon Carter won’t be a part of the third Avengers movie, Marvel can be slightly sneaky about keeping their projects under wraps. As an example, they had Michael Rooker visit the Atlanta set of Guardians of the Galaxy Voume 2 to deflect any speculation about Yondu's death.

I believe that Sharon Carter deserves a role in Avengers: Infinity War or its untitled sequel as much as Pepper Potts does. Carter is no damsel in distress, and she proved her allegiance to Chris Evans’ superhero in Captain America: Civil War. It seems a bit odd that she would be left out of the picture as Thanos makes his entrance.
