While talking to IGN, Oscar Isaac shared some interesting experiences that he had preparing for the role. As a part of his preparation for playing the X-Wing pilot's role, other than flight training for just a single day, he used to play with a little ship in his room and think about the stuff he would say when he's doing that. Oscar also shared that Harrison, who's got a pilot's license as well, offered to take him to flying before they were supposed to shoot, but that couldn't happen due to lack of time adjustment. Later, the Han Solo cast told him that it didn't really matter as flying an airplane and a spaceship aren't the same.

The star also stated that the Episode VII focuses on the emotional story of the characters in spite of the spectacle.
