No more shortlists, no more rumors, no more contradictions! The new Spider-Man has been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures! The actor who will enter the gigantic Marvel Cinematic Universe as the successor of Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield is the nineteen year old Tom Holland! The announcement comes straight away from the official website of Marvel.
Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group Chairman, appreciates Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal and their team for the "˜incredible job' they've done in search of the new Spider-Man and claims that among all the actors who were tested for the role, Tom Holland's screen test performances were "˜special'. Amy Pascal terms him as "˜the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man's story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe'.
Tom Holland is best known for his roles in the movies The Impossible and Wolf Hall. He is perhaps the only actor who made it to every rumored shortlist of Spider-Man contenders that we got from various sources at different times.
Jon Watts To Direct Spider-Man Solo!

The name of the new Peter Parker isn't the only confirmation we get from the announcement. Marvel and Sony have also confirmed the director for the solo outing of the web-slinger that will hit the theaters on 28 July, 2017. Jon Watts, the director of the upcoming thriller flick Cop Car, has won the job after going through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio. Kevin Feige states:
"As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life. We spent a lot of time with Jon and find his take and work inspiring."
