Feige: Nova Movie has Immediate Potential!

Kevin Feige says a Nova movie has immediate potential at Marvel Studios!

Marvel president Kevin Feige has been considering a Nova movie for some time, so don't be surprised if you see one listed as part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Four slate.

Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel the culmination of everything that’s happened in the MCU to date. Some major characters will probably leave the franchise to make way for some new ones, but the studio hasn’t confirmed who’s leaving for good and who’s about to arrive.

ComicBook recently caught up with Feige and asked about the Nova project. Although he wouldn't provide any details, he mentioned that a certain superhero was about to join the MCU:

If we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board, because of the connection to the Guardians’ universe, because there’s more than one example to pull from in the comics that might be interesting. And you're absolutely right; he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].

As long ago as August 2017, James Gunn revealed that multiple discussions about using the character in the MCU had taken place. He added that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would set up new characters and expand the cosmic universe. So it follows that Nova could show up in that movie.

Neither Feige nor Gunn mentioned whether they’re considering the Richard Rider version or the Sam Alexander version of Nova for the movie. Marv Wolfman and John Buscema first introduced the Rider version in 1976. Created by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness in 2012, Alexander is the current incarnation.
