The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have long been associated with their love of pizza. Now, fans of Donnie, Raph, Mikey and Leo will get to share in that love of pizza in the real world. That’s because Paramount is set to open several TMNT themed pizzerias later this year. Cowabunga it is.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is opening currently unnamed Ninja Turtles pizza restaurants in three locations around the world. The current list of locations includes Santa Monica, California, Monterrey, Mexico, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. No specific dates have been listed but the shops are expected to open sometime in 2026.
This is just one part of a much larger expansion of the franchise. A new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is in the works. Paramount decided to cancel the live-action The Last Ronin movie for the time being in favor of something seemingly more safe. They’ve also got Teeny Mutant Ninja Turtles, a 30-episode CG-animated series exploring the early days of the turtles.
Several books, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splinter’s Dojo and a novel version of TMNT: The Last Ronin are also on deck. Paramount also signed a multi-year licensing deal with Mattel for new merchandise centered around these turtles. Paramount’s president of global products and experiences, Josh Silverman had this to say about it.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is full of action, humor and heart, and showcases relationships that have resonated with generations of fans worldwide. Continuing the Turtles’ adventures through products and experiences enables consumers to embark on their own journey. Whether it’s watching a movie, wearing a costume, playing with action figures or reading a book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has made an impact not only on people’s lives but on pop culture in ways that few franchises can claim. Our new offerings continue the growth of this incredible property and demonstrate new ways for global audiences of all ages to relate to these stories and characters.”
Meanwhile, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem sequel is also in the works. It will serve as a follow-up to the hit 2023 animated feature film. IDW has also been expanding its line of TMNT comics as of late. This includes solo books for characters like Casey Jones and Splinter. Clearly, Paramount believes the characters have a lot of gas in the tank more than 40 years after the franchise first started.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 hits theaters on September 17, 2027.
