The Supergirl Movie Trailer Is Here, Watch It Right Now

Supergirl (2026) - DC Studios

The first teaser trailer for the Supergirl movie is here. The new DC Universe is in full swing after the success of director James Gunn’s Superman over the summer. First, we got Kal-El, the last son of Krypton. Now? We get to look at his cousin, Kara Zor-El. Based on the tagline alone, “Truth, Justice, Whatever,” it’s clear this isn’t the same sort of superhero tale. Check it out for yourself.

We got a glimpse of Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara at the end of Superman. She was quite unlike David Corenswet’s Superman. She’s a drinker and not exactly the hero Earth needs. The trailer offers our first meaningful look at what it’s going to be like when the action is centered on her. She’ll be going toe-to-toe with the villain Lobo, played by former Aquaman star Jason Momoa

Here is the synopsis for Supergirl.

“When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero.”

When the movie was first announced, it was given the title Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It’s based on the comic of the same name by writer Tom King. The subtitle was later removed but the source material remains intact. Much has changed since the initial DCU slate announcement in early 2023. But aside from the title change, this movie made it across the finish line.

The cast also includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze and Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll. Craig Gillespie (Cruella) is in the director’s chair for Supergirl, working from a script by Ana Nogueira. Gunn, who also serves as the co-head of DC Studios, produces alongside Peter Safran, who also co-runs the studio at Warner Bros.

Also on deck for the DC Universe in 2026 is the Clayface movie. That one is said to be more of a body/horror movie based on the Batman villain of the same name. The Lanterns TV show is also due to premiere next year on HBO and HBO Max. 2027 will see Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow hit theaters, as well as the long-awaited The Batman Part II.

Supergirl hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
