Tobey Maguire has some positive things to say about the actors who portrayed Spider-Man in live-action media after him. Also, he wouldn't rule out the possibility of making a return to the world of superhero movies.
It's been over a decade since Spider-Man 3 was screened in theaters. That was the third and final time Tobey Maguire portrayed the webslinger on big screen. But even now, we can find many fans who wish the actor had never been replaced by Andrew Garfield, who eventually had to hand over the role to Tom Holland.
Maguire, however, seems to have moved on well, and is also appreciative of his successors. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor spoke highly of Garfield and Holland. Admitting that he has not watched all the movies featuring those two actors as Peter Parker, he goes on to say:
What I’ve seen, I’ve appreciated. I like both of the actors [Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland] a ton. I think they’re both super talented. I would just say I appreciated them and I like the actors. I like the choices.
Tobey Maguire is now 43 and has never appeared in a superhero movie other than three Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man movies. But that doesn't mean the superhero genre has seen the last of him. When asked by THR whether he would be open to playing a superhero once again, here's how he responds:
I just don’t really have an ‘I would or wouldn’t do’ mind-set. I’ll just do whatever "¦ whatever it is that comes that I feel called to, that may or may not fit in any kind of box.
Tom Holland would love to see Maguire as Benjamin Parker in a flashback scene. But perhaps, Maguire wouldn't be interested in that kind of role. But of course, with so many superhero movies in the works at the moment, chances of him landing another role in the genre (more prominent than that of Uncle Ben) are probably higher than ever.
