Yesterday has seen the release of the final trailer for the most anticipated movie of 2015 - Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The trailer was released in order to mark the first day ticket pre-orders - several websites simply crashing because they didn't handle the huge number of visitors. And the tickets simply evaporated.
But what about the final trailer? What can we get from hit? Has it revealed anything of major interest?
Well, unlike any other Disney productions, it hasn't - looking at you, Marvel movies! Thus far, the next chapter is still a mystery for most, if not all, of us, from every point of view. We might get an idea as to who will be the main character of the new trilogy (the new Luke Skywalker, that is), as well as who may be the main baddie (a sort of Darth Vader replacement). But nothing is set in stone at the moment.
And this is just about the characters - we know nothing about the plot either, other than the few snippets of info offered officially (such as this being a continuation of the Star Wars saga - gee, thanks a lot).
In any way, the mystery is strong with this one - and it is a good thing. Because now we can go see a movie without actually being spoiled beforehand. So do you want to be spoiled? If you do, check out the next page for some of the bigger questions and their possible answers which arose after seeing the trailer!
Someone dies
This is the biggest question of them all: who is that being dead in the trailer?
At 1:45, just after seeing Kylo Ren swinging his awesome sword (which has grew on us as the time passed), we see Rey crying over something and looking in the distance. To be noted, she appears to be in a forest, just like the one in which Ren fights with Finn. So the rumor is that a character close to her has been killed.
Obviously, we have no idea who might that be, nor what connection she has with any of the characters we have seen thus far. The rumor is that she is a Skywalker and that the new trilogy will be focus on her. But, leaving this aside, if she is indeed crying over somebody's body, who is that?
Obviously, can we say that it is John Boyega's Finn who has died? The silhouette over which Rey cries seems to have some sort of leathery jacket (or something else, but still leathery), with what seems to be a lot of hair over which the snow has fallen. And we do see angrily engaging Ren in a lightsaber fight, even if he has no idea what he is doing. But it can't be him - even if he has the jacket, he doesn't have the hair.
Obviously, since we mentioned the hair, who is the hairiest of all the Star Wars characters? Obviously, it is Chewbacca - and it makes sense seeing him being killed. We don't know what connection it is between him and Rey, but we do see Han and Leia hugging afterwards, as if someone close to them has died. So this could be a possibility - add to that the fact that the next shot, right after the one we are talking about, as Chewie at the center and"¦ As far as the leathery thingy we see, it can be his bandolier.
The dead body may also be the one of someone we haven't seen yet - Max von Sydow's character, who is rumored to be a mentor for Rey.
Another possibility would be that it is Poe Dameron, a character we see being tortured by Kylo Ren. As the rumor goes, he is like a father-figure for Finn and other resistance fighters (so, possibly, for Rey too). So this would explain the final fight between Rey and Ren, in which he looks so pissed off when fighting Ren.
The final possibility, and one as strong as the Chewbacca one, is that the dead person is Han Solo, of whom most of the rumors say that he will bite the dust in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He does wear a leather jacket, he does have the grey hair, so what if?
On the next page, is that Luke?
The great absent
Another big mystery is concerns the other famous Skywalker, about whom we don't know a single thing. The rumor is that he is in the movie only in the final minutes - most likely renouncing his self-imposed exile after hearing about his friend's death (Han or Chewie).
Until now we have not caught the smaller glimpse of the character - even if it is assumed otherwise. It is believed that the metallic hand petting the droid is his. However, since Star Wars is such a mystery thus far, we actually believe that it is someone else.
As we see Kylo Ren speaking over the Darth Vader helmet, as if it was some sort of religious artifact, we may also believe that he (or some other Knight of Ren) is with the droid. So, in a way, we believe that this character's reveal is intended to be a big surprise. We don't know who he is, but we are almost certain that it is just a red herring of some sorts.
So no Luke Skywalker until now, as far as we are concerned.
On the next page, a few words about Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron.
Star Wars for a new generation
While everybody wants to see more of the old guard (especially of Luke, who is nowhere to be seen), this new Star Wars is now for and with a new generation. We believe that we know who the main characters are and we expect for them to bring us the same excitement as the first original trilogy.
But do we know anything about them?
For example - take Finn. We see him as a Stormtrooper crashing on Jakku and then becoming a resistance fighter. We see him engaging into a lightsaber sword fight with Kylo Ren, even if he isn't force-sensitive (or at least we don't know that yet). However, the rumor is that Poe Dameron is a father figure for him (which, again, explain his fierce stance against Ren). So what if he is in fact a resistance fighter who infiltrates the Order to rescue Poe (who was tortured by Ren), in a way mirroring the events from the first Star Wars film?
This would explain why his tie fighter crashes, being shot down, and why Ren renounces his mask and makes it all person when engaging him.
So who is Finn? And what is his last name?
Moving on, we have Rey, about whom J. J. Abrams already said to have a last name, which wasn't revealed thus far on purpose. So the rumor is that she has a connection with established Star Wars characters, most likely with the Skywalker. If Han is her father and Han dies (or even Chewbacca for that matter), then we can understand her despair - but what if she is not a Skywalker and she is someone else?
So far, we guess that her story mirrors the one of Luke - she is a scavenger who stays under the radar, but who takes a stance when the threat comes knocking. So we may assume that she is a Skywalker - but she is actually a nobody, as far as the Star Wars movie universe is concerned. Or her last name could lead to another connection, with a new character.

Kylo Ren - the revealed villain of Star Wars: The Force Awakens
We know nothing about this Knight of Ren either. Until recently, everybody believed that he was just a lapdog of a Sith Lord, pretty much like Darth Maul. But the director indicated otherwise, saying that he is not a Sith, just like he isn't even a Sith apprentice. He is just a warrior who can sense the Force, who operates under the leadership of a Dark Side Master. He has an obsession with Darth Vader, as the trailer clearly shows - but what kind of an obsession is that and what does he actually want to finish?
We also don't know his last name - he is Kylo of the Knight of Ren, most likely renouncing his old name. The rumor is that he is a Skywalker, being in fact the brother of Rey. But he needn't be a Skywalker in order to be her brother - what if she isn't one either? After all, nobody says that Han and Leia had these two kids, while nobody believes that Luke had any at all.
So what if Kylo's story mirrors the one of Darth Vader himself? What if his intention isn't to destroy the resistance (which is, in itself, nothing but a means to an end), but actually to bring balance to the Force and banish the Sith once and for all?
This would be a very interesting twist to see - becoming one with the dark side in order to destroy it from within.
