Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Finally Has A Release Date

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse - Sony Pictures

At long last, we finally know when Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be in theaters. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a good news, bad news situation. The good news is that Sony finally confirmed when we will be able to see the sequel during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. The bad news? We’re going to have to wait a long time to see it.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is now set to hit theaters on June 4, 2027. That’s a full 4 years after 2023’s Across the Spider-Verse. What’s so surprising about it is that the sequel was originally announced with a 2024 release date. So this is a pretty significant delay. To ease the sting. Sony did release several first-look images from the movie, which you can check out below.

Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are directing Beyond the Spider-Verse. They were both on hand at CinemaCon. As were producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who have ushered the Spider-Verse trilogy along dating back to 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse. Per Variety, the filmmakers made it clear on stage that they know just how important these movies are to fans.

“We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back. So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right.”

“It’s going to be a massive finale to the trilogy,” Lord added. Though it wasn’t released online, Sony also showcased some early footage from the finale to the trilogy to those in attendance. It’s unlikely any of that footage will make its way online any time soon, given that the release date is more than two years away.

Here is the brief synopsis for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

“Miles Morales returns in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the highly-anticipated conclusion to the Spider-Verse saga.”

Meanwhile, Sony has a couple of other major Marvel projects in the works. They’re currently deep in the weeds on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. That movie was also given an official title at CinemaCon in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Meanwhile, the studio also has the live-action Spider-Man Noir series in the can for Amazon. That show is expected to premiere sometime later this year. Nicolas Cage is reprising his role in live-action from the Spider-Verse films.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 4, 2027.
