Patton Oswalt Announces Sequel To Eternals

Patton Oswalt, who plays the role of Eternals, seems to have confirmed that a sequel to the film that will be released by Marvel Studios in 2021 is in the works, and that Chloé Zhao will be returning to direct it.

Oswalt mentioned the mid-credits scene in Eternals, in which he and Harry Styles appear as Pip the Troll and Eros/Starfox, respectively, during a recent interview on The Today Show. Oswalt played the role of Pip the Troll. According to Oswalt, “They have said there is going to be a sequel to Eternals.” [Citation needed] “Chloé Zhao is going to helm the project as the director. Therefore, let us keep our fingers crossed that Starfox and Pip will have further adventures together.” As a matter of fact, Marvel Studios has not yet declared that it will produce a sequel to Eternals; hence, Oswalt may have made the announcement too soon or is speculating based on the fact that he has insider knowledge.

Eternals, which is the third feature film to be released as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four, had its world debut in theaters on November 5, 2021. The movie had a worldwide opening weekend gross of 162 million dollars, which, at the time, made it the second-largest worldwide opening since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic. When everything was said and done, Eternals brought in a total of 402.1 million dollars around the world. Audiences and critics did not agree on the film’s innovative new concepts for the MCU, which led to mixed reviews for the movie overall.

Eternals is a film that was produced by Marvel Studios and directed by Zhao. The film is based on a race that appears in Marvel Comics and has the same name. The late and great Jack Kirby was the creator of the race. Gemma Chan plays the role of Sersi in the movie, with Richard Madden playing Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani playing Kingo, Lia McHugh playing Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry playing Phastos, Lauren Ridloff playing Makkari, Barry Keoghan playing Druig, Don Lee playing Gilgamesh, Kit Harington playing Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek playing Ajak, and Angelina Jolie playing Thena.

What’s Next for the Eternals in the MCU?

As was said earlier, the mid-credits scene of the movie also includes a cameo by Styles as Starfox and an appearance by Oswalt as the voice of Pip. In the post-credits scene of Eternals, Mahershala Ali reprises his role as Eric Brooks/Blade through the use of his voice. Ali will play a leading role in the upcoming Blade remake film that is being produced by Marvel Studios. The film is slated to make its debut in theaters on November 3, 2023 as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Five.

In light of this, Marvel Studios presented its whole Phase Five lineup at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, and there was not the slightest hint that a sequel to Eternals would be in the works. In spite of this, a significant portion of the Phase Six slate is still shrouded in secrecy. Marvel has only disclosed that it will start with Fantastic Four and end with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. In other words, there is still an abundance of space available.

During his presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige did not make any direct reference to an Eternals sequel. However, during an on-site interview with MTV News, he came close to confirming that Starfox and Pip will be making a return. He stated that the exploits of Eros and Pip are something that both he and his wife find to be quite intriguing. In addition, the aforementioned Chan all but confirmed her own return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sersi back in January of this year.
