Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Delayed a Full Year

We’ve got some bad news for Transformers fans today. Paramount Pictures has announced that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has been delayed by a full year. The upcoming entry in the franchise was announced earlier this year and was originally set to arrive next summer. Instead, it will be one of the blockbusters to look forward to in summer 2023.

As reported by The Wrap, Transformers Rise of the Beasts is now set to hit theaters on June 9, 2023. It had previously been dated for June 24, 2023. No reason was cited for the delay but we do know that filming recently wrapped. So, seemingly, getting the movie ready in time would not have been an issue. Though next year is quite packed due to many movies being delayed out of 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. That may have motivated the studio’s decision.

Here is the synopsis for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

“Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.”

Indeed, the upcoming entry in the series will be bringing in Beast Wars. This was teased by a logo that was revealed during production. Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Project Power) lead the cast for the movie. Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) is in the director’s chair. Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Brian Oliver, Bradley J. Fischer, and Valerii An are on board as executive producers. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto & Don Murphy, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian, and Duncan Henderson serve as producers.

While later entries like The Last Knight suffered critically and commercially, the Transformers franchise has been hugely successful since making the jump to live-action in 2007. To date, the movies have earned more than $4.8 billion at the global box office. The most recent entry was 2018’s Bumblebee, which was met with widespread critical acclaim. It also did reasonably well, earning $465 million at the box office against a $102 million production budget.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
