While we had our fair share of new superheroes this year with Guardians of the Galaxy, next year will bring two iconic muta"¦ erm"¦ miracles on the big screen: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. For those that don't know, these are two of Marvel's best known twins. Furthermore, they also form the most bizarre comic book couple. It isn't known if this weird relationship will be translated on the silver screen or not, but it will certainly be a sight to see some fresh blood in the Avengers.
Behind the scenes with Scarlet Witch
So in anticipation of the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray and DVD release, Marvel has decided to show us some behind the scenes footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron. While all the established superheroes can be seen in this small featurette, the ones that capture the attention are Scarlet Witch (who is portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (who is played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson).
As a bit of trivia, these two actors will play Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (who, as said, form a weird romantic couple in the comics) after playing husband and wife in this year's Godzilla.
Why are they so special?
Leaving aside the fact that they are called miracles (instead of mutants), Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver have two different kinds of powers than the ones we have seen until now in Marvel movies. While Quicksilver is just fast (granted, very fast), Scarlet Witch is (obviously) a witch and this will be the first time when such powers will be displayed in the MCU.
If you are thinking about Loki, it was already established that all the magic of the Asgardians is, in fact, unbelievably evolved science.
