According to various websites, Disney is not happy with Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars story. The studio is taking over and is planning for some pretty expensive reshoots. Of course, every blockbuster movie has reshoots - but, according to CBM, Disney believes that Rogue One is not a worthy successor to The Force Awakens.
The latest installment of the Star Wars franchise made more than $2 billion worldwide, so we didn't really believe that Rogue One would meet with the same success. This rumor, however, is more credible, after Alice through the Looking Glass proved to be a complete misfire, with only $33 million made in its first weekend in the US.
On the other hand, some other websites say that these reshoots are just the type of reshoots that ordinarily take place when filming a big blockbuster. Disney hasn't screened the movie, so there is no reason to believe that Rogue One will fail. Nonetheless, reshoots are being planned.
According to various THR and Deadline sources, the Disney execs have no reason to believe that Rogue One will be a flop. The reshoots are being planned in order to better connect Rogue One with the rest of the Star Wars universe.
This movie will be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. According to the rumors, the reshoots will introduce (or maybe re-introduce) a very important character in the Star Wars universe – care to bet that it will be either Darth Vader or Palpatine? Other rumors support this theory, since they say that Rogue One will end about 10 minutes before the beginning of A New Hope (or thereabout).
So what do you think about this latest batch of Star Wars rumors?
