Professor X Goes Bald

And that is the young Professor X, portrayed in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past by James McAvoy. Sure enough, given that his future self (portrayed by the ever-bald Patrick Stewart) was in fact hair-less, we might have expected for him to lose his beautiful locks.

So after Bryan Singer teased in First Class, when Professor X used for the first time Cerebro, that the X-Men leader will lose his hair, it has finally come down to it. The director just posted on his Instagram account a pic with a frowned McAvoy already bald.

There weren't too many hints until now, if at all, that Professor X will eventually go bald - of course, and as said, it was supposed to happen so, given Patrick Stewart's beautiful hair.

James McAvoy, in an interview last year, said that during X-Men: Apocalypse he will be much older and wiser and he will most likely lose his hair. It isn't known at this moment what reason was behind this, but we can expect that it wasn't just the use of Cerebro.

As you can see, while not losing his boyish looks, this new/old version of Professor X does seem a bit frowned, to say the least. Furthermore, we don't know whether it is because of the lack of hair or not, but he does look a bit like a young Patrick Stewart.

In the comics at least, Professor X lost his hair as a side effect of his mutation - this isn't however, the case of the X-Men Movie Universe, since there was no sign until now of even a receding hairline. Maybe this will appear, since in X-Men: Apocalypse he will be around 40 years old, and he will decide to cut it off entirely. Better completely bald than with a bald spot, right?
