X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to hit the theaters on 27 May of the very next year and Oscar Isaac of Ex Machina fame is playing the titular supervillain. Apocalypse, aka En Sabah Nur or "˜The First One', is one of the deadliest nemeses of X-Men, as far as the comic books are concerned.
No doubt that the supervillain is going to be as deadly as he is in the comics, if not more, because of what we've heard so far - Simon Kinberg's quoting the movie as something that would change "˜the course of history' and a rumor claiming that it will bring an end to the existing X-Men Universe. Surely, a supervillain got to be a real threat for all that to happen!
Recently, Oscar Isaac talked to Mathew Sardo of the Monkey Fighting Robots podcast, where he confirmed that he has started filming for the upcoming X-Men venture and also shared a bit on his motivations and missions in playing Apocalypse.
Isaac's Statement On Apocalypse
Here's the actor's full quote:
"I've been reading the script a lot and trying to come at for me, a interesting angle. Definitely focusing on the fact…(Continued to Page 2)
(Continued from Page 1)… he is the embodiment of the second coming of the judgements of god and that energy going in. We're playing with that. What we are trying to do is make his philosophy and what his mission is, one that is both simple but also holds water, that really makes sense throughout the whole movie. I think Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer, we've been able to come up with something very cool."
What We Get From Isaac's Words
Fortunately for him, Oscar Isaac has managed to get away with an interview without spoiling hardly anything! Earlier this year, he revealed a vital power of his version of Apocalypse, which wasn't confirmed in the post-credit scenes of X-Men: Days of Future Past. He'd done something similar with his Star Wars: The Force Awaken role back in December 2014.
But to me it seems like Oscar's newest statement indicates that his character will have a good bit of resemblance to the comic book counterpart. However, Bryan Singer is well-known for his tendency to turn his back on the source. So, nothing is guaranteed - other than a "˜very cool' incarnation of Apocalypse! What do you think?
