With The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller at the helm, an untitled Han Solo standalone movie is scheduled for May 25, 2018 release. At the moment, Disney and Lucasfilm are still in search of an actor to play the younger version of Harrison Ford's iconic Star Wars character. Over 2500 actors have reportedly been tested in some way or other. And The Spectacular Now and Fantastic Four star Miles Teller confirms that he was one of them!
While talking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Slash Film), the Pennsylvania-born actor reveals that he did audition for the role of younger Han Solo. Here's what he said:
I had never even seen any of the original Star Wars movies until maybe a month or a couple weeks before my first audition, because I was like, “I should check this out [Laughs].” It holds up.
Teller went on to state that he loves Harrison Ford and considers Han Solo "a great character". He claims that many actors would have played the part wrong, but Ford adds "humor at the right times". He adds:
Harrison Ford is a very big actor; when you see the facial expressions and the things he does, he goes big, but he's just always the coolest guy in the room and he's got all of those great qualities.
Taron Egerton is FLATTERED to be up for Han Solo role!
While Miles Teller did audition for Han Solo role, it is unlikely that he’ll get the part. A recent report from The Hollywood Reporter suggests that Disney and Lucasfilm have narrowed down the shortlist to three actors - Hail, Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich, Transformers: Age of Extinction star Jack Reynor and Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton.
While talking to Hey U Guys (via Newsweek) recently, Taron Egerton shared that he was aware of the speculation and was excited to be in the race. The actor states:
This is something I'm aware of. Of course, it’s very flattering. I would like to [play him] as much as anyone"¦it's Han Solo, right?
