Krang has been a key supervillain in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise since 1987, and the character is set to appear in the upcoming TMNT: Out of the Shadows movie. The character was also teased in the Super Bowl ad, but we didn't know then who would voice the role. Now we do!
During their recent appearance at WonderCon 2016 (via IGN), producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller announced that Saturday Night Live star Fred Armisen will lend his voice to supervillain Krang. Fuller assures us that “Anyone who loves Fred will love what he is doing.”
The 49-year-old comedian has appeared in a number of movies, like EuroTrip, Anchorman, and Cop Out. The other producer shares that we’ll see more of Krang in the coming days, saying, “I think soon in some marketing you’ll see some more of him.”
New TMNT: Out of the Shadows TV Spot and Posters Launched!
Paramount Pictures has released a new TV spot for TMNT: Out of the Shadows, along with three new posters. Check out the 60-second commercial below!
One of three new posters is a limited edition piece created by Gallery1988 artist Dave Quibble. Here's the poster for you!
The other two are character posters for Sheamus' Rocksteady and Gary Anthony Williams' Bebop - both after mutation. After referring to the two TMNT: Out of the Shadows characters as "idiots and knuckleheads", Form states:
They’re just really fun characters. They’re Shredder’s henchman, and they really bring a lot of comedic relief to the film…It’s really fun to see the humans transform onscreen.
Check out the Rocksteady and Bebop posters below!
Stephen Amell and Megan Fox also appeared at WonderCon, along with the two producers. Amell reveals that when we meet his Casey Jones in TMNT: Out of the Shadows, we’ll see that he’s "far from a vigilante carrying hockey stick" and that he's "a corrections officer”.
Fox shares that her character, April O'Neil, is not as ambitious career-wise as she was when we saw her in the first movie. She says that her story in the June 3 release is "more focused on her relationship with the Turtles" and "finding a purpose in a different way".
