If you were wondering how a King Kong vs. Godzilla movie can happen, given the huge difference in size between the monsters, wonder no more. Today we have found out how big the new ape can be - and it’s really big. Now we see no way for a confrontation to not take place.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings of Summer), Kong: Skull Island is a total re-imagining of the story. While the synopsis says that this will be an origin story, the trailer doesn't even drop a hint about that. Maybe this origin story is how Kong was discovered and not how he came to being? Anyway, Samuel L. Jackson narrates, and the cast is as solid as it can get! Check it out - you'll like it!
Tom Hiddleston is the main male protagonist, while Brie Larson is the female lead. John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Toby Kebbel (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy) complete the cast, among others.
This being said, what was so awesome about this trailer? Well, besides actually igniting our interest in a Kong vs. Godzilla movie, this flick seems to be a pretty serious one, like 2014's Godzilla. There are some horror elements to it (as it happens on an island populated by enormous creatures), which reminded us of that deleted scene from Peter Jackson's King Kong. Yes, that scene with the giant bugs.
Set well before the Godzilla events from 2014, it is expected that Kong: Skull Island will drop quite a few hints about the shared universe. One of them is featured in the trailer, when John Goodman's character says he has tried to demonstrate the existence of the monsters. Pretty much what Bryan Cranston's character did in 2014.
