The original X-Men trilogy - X-Men, X2 and The Last Stand - were the movies that presented the veteran actor Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto. Then, we came across the younger version of the character played by Michael Fassbender.
But last year's massive blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past brought back McKellen's older Magneto and many have been expecting since then to watch the 76 years old actor again playing the role in next year's X-Men: Apocalypse.
We have had rumors about his appearance in the upcoming X-Men flick and his co-star and pal Patrick Stewart told in an interview earlier this year that McKellen would reprise his role. And now comes the confirmation from the actor himself - actually he isn't playing Magneto in Apocalypse!
McKellen Hasn't Even Heard That Rumor!
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, the veteran actor not only denied the chances of his appearance in the movie, but also claimed that he hasn't heard any such rumor!

It is pretty much clear that there's around zero percent chances of watching the actor play the mutant master of magnetism in the upcoming X-Men flick since his schedule looks jam-packed.
X-Men Stories Stand Out Above The Rest!
Here's what the actor said:
"I haven't heard [the rumors], I don't think I am, no, no, they are currently making the film and I'm not in it. I was very happy to be a part of the films but I have other things to be doing. I've just done Mr. Holmes, I just done some filming for a sitcom, a film for BBC TV with Anthony Hopkins, so there are compensations for not getting caught up in blockbusters."
Ian McKellen also claimed in the interview that the stories of movies from the X-Men Universe are "˜superior' to any other movies in the fantasy genre. The reason behind this, he thinks, is that these movies are "˜about something'. He explains:
"I don't think there's much excitement in the wimp who becomes all powerful when he changes his underwear. But X-Men is about what it is to be different, what it is to be a mutant, and society's attitude towards difference and all that. That's an important social thing to discuss."
