Legendary director Ridley Scott is going to bring the horror sci-fi movie to the big screen. He is celebrating his 79th birthday and more than 50 years in the filmmaking industry.

In celebration of the man who will carry on the Alien franchise, 20th Century Fox has released behind-the-scenes image. Check this out!

The Martian director will receive the Directors Guild of America top honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Achievement in Motion Picture Direction. DGA President Paris Barclay said about the master:

Masterful in any genre, Ridley's groundbreaking methods and peerless directing instincts have brought to life some of the most memorable films of our time, capturing the resilience of the human spirit and captivating the hearts and minds of audiences around the world. Stunning visuals, immersive worlds, and powerful performances underpin his diverse body of work, which ranges from Alien, Blade Runner, and Thelma & Louise to Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and, most recently, The Martian. Over the course of four decades, his trailblazing career has demonstrated the impact and importance of the director's singular vision. For these reasons, and so many more, we are honored to present the Lifetime Achievement Award in feature film to Ridley Scott.

The script for Alien: Covenant was penned by Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern). The cast includes Michael Fassbender (reprising his Prometheus role of David, as well as portraying a new android, Walter), Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), and Billy Crudup (Watchmen). We also might see Noomi Rapace reprising her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw.

Alien: Covenant will follow the crew on the Covenant ship as they explore outer space in search of a better world. Instead, they will find a darker world than they imagined – the film will be a sequel to Prometheus and a prequel to another upcoming Alien movie.
