For the first time ever, 20th Century Fox will release three X-Men related movies in one year. The highly anticipated X-Men: New Mutants, Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are all scheduled for release in 2018. New Mutants marks yet another genre-mixing film, as evidenced by the teaser trailer; Cable will make his big-screen debut in Deadpool 2; and Dark Phoenix will be the studio’s second attempt at adapting the beloved Dark Phoenix Saga.
The first New Mutants teaser trailer demonstrated that Josh Boone created a horror flick, which surprised everybody (for better or worse). Shooting is complete for both Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, so we can expect to see footage from those movies soon.
First-time director Simon Kinberg announced via his Instagram account that the Dark Phoenix production was complete. This may be his first movie, but principal photography went as smoothly as possible, which is an indication that Kinberg has what it takes to be a director:
Writer Rhett Reese tweeted that Deadpool 2 had finished shooting:
That's a wrap! Deadpool 2 is in the can!

Deadpool 2 star Ryan Reynolds also made an announcement on his Instagram account, and added some praise for director David Leitch and everyone else involved in the making of the film:
That's a wrap on DEADPOOL 2: A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE! Thank you to our beloved Captain, Mr. @davidmleitch… words are too clumsy to properly acknowledge your giant heart and talent. I love my hometown of Vancouver and our obscenely gifted crew. From our PA's, (who are first in and last out) to our set decorators and prop department, riddling this film with Easter Eggs in almost every scene… Thank you. I already miss being on set. Which is why I've decided to continue shooting the film in my underwear from Josh Brolin's well appointed living room. #MaximumEffort
Deadpool 2 will be released on June 1, 2018. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will follow on November 2.
