Colossus To Be Recast In Deadpool!

Deadpool is less than a year away from its release and less than a month away before its filming kicks off. Ryan Reynolds, who played the superhero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is set to reprise his role as the title cast in the 12 February, 2016 solo.

But Reynolds wasn't the only one who was supposed to set a tie in between the X-Men franchise and his Deadpool. According to the leaked script, the Russian mutant Colossus is also set to make an appearance in the upcoming Fox venture.

Colossus was played by the Canadian actor Daniel Cudmore in three movies of X-Men franchise, X2 of 2003, The Last Stand of 2006 and last year's Days of Future Past. So, he was the other familiar face from X-Men franchise that we expected to see in Deadpool. But, sadly, it is confirmed now that Daniel Cudmore will no longer be playing the mutant!

How Did We Get Colossus Recast Confirmed?

The mutant with relentless momentum and the ability to transform his body into organic steel will be played by someone else instead. This has been confirmed by none other than the actor himself. Cudmore took his Twitter account to announce to his fans that it will no longer be he to play the role in Deadpool. Let's check out the sequence of tweets by the actor on the matter.

Why Are They Recasting The Russian Mutant?

It is still unknown why Deadpool is looking for a recast for the role of Colossus. The way Cudmore announces in Twitter suggests that there must not have been any major issues of him with the Deadpool team unless he's too humble to hide! What can be a reason for recasting the Russian mutant is that the makers want a younger version of the character. This isn't anything new Fox and X-Men as we already know that the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse recasts Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm for the same reason.

Another thing that might be the case is that Deadpool is looking for a more recognized actor for the role. This can happen if Colossus has a big role to play in the movie. We've seen the same happening with the role of Sabertooth which had seen recast of Liev Schreiber by Tyler Mane in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But does it really make sense for an actor who has played the role in three movies? What do you guys think?
