In an interview with Empire Magazine, director Bryan Singer revealed a few more details about X-Men: Apocalypse, particularly about a scene involving William Stryker. Last time we saw this character was in Days of Future Past, looking very intrigued as he discovered what superpowers some mutants possess.
In case you’ve forgotten, Stryker is also the one responsible for giving Wolverine his adamantium claws - in this continuity, though, Wolverine is captured at the end of Days of Future Past by Mystique, disguised as William Stryker.
Back to the scene description, Bryan Singer said that William has caught Mystique, Beast, Quicksilver, and Moira (what use will he find for her?), to question them about the whereabouts of Magneto. Which is pretty interesting, since Stryker is best known for his relationship with Wolverine.
When asked whether the no-nonsense mutant will play a role in X-Men: Apocalypse, Singer replied that the character, didn't fit into this particular story - is that so? Can we expect at least a brief cameo from Hugh Jackman? Apparently not.
Bryan Singer also teased the future of the X-Men franchise, saying that he doesn't plan to abandon it just yet (as he did after X2, to direct Superman Returns). Of course, he will focus at first on 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, but then he will return.
As far as future villains are concerned, Bryan Singer is very interested in bringing Proteus to the big screen, because the character offers a lot of possibilities from a visual point of view. Which is a bit unexpected coming from him, especially since a couple of months ago the director said that a Dark Phoenix Saga adaptation would be his next choice.
For now, Bryan Singer's X-Men will unite to face Apocalypse in less than two months .
