Blade Runner is yet another classic cult film to receive a sequel after decades since it was first released. And the fact that most sequels of this kind aren't received too well by the fans makes us weary of the outcome - will Blade Runner 2 live up to its legacy?
Even if Harrison Ford will return, this doesn't mean that it will be a hit (both at the box office and with the fans). And the fact that Ridley Scott will be executive producer doesn't really convince us that this movie needs to be done - after all, in the recent years, the director/producer didn't score too many hits. And when he did, it was quite a surprise.
Nonetheless, Blade Runner 2 is moving forward, being set to start shooting this July, with Ryan Gosling being the main star and Denis Villeneuve directing (he did a great job with Sicario and Prisoners). Yesterday 2 other actors have been announced for the sequel.
One of them is Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), who already teased a role in the planned sequel on Twitter - we guess you remember the origami unicorn from the first Blade Runner. The wrestler turned actor did a terrific job in Guardians of the Galaxy - however, he was severely underused in Skyfall. Given his big frame, we can bet that he will be a Replicant.

The second cast member to be announced yesterday is Robin Wright (House of Cards), who will be seen next year in Wonder Woman. The rumors say that she will either play a femme fatale like Sean Young did in the original flick, or a police officer who asks for the help of a blade runner (who will most likely be Ryan Gosling).
Despite these big names (among which the director's is the biggest), we cannot say that we are excited this project is moving forward. With all its mystery, the first Blade Runner was perfect. We have no idea where it will all go from its ending on.
