While Christian Bale did bring out a new face of Batman, his story with the billion-dollar franchise has come to an end. Fans around the world naturally expected to see Bale impersonate the character in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, given his last two feats in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
However, the prospect died out without much explanation airing out from Warner Bros. or DC Comics. Nolan himself abandoned the project, and the crew appears to be a different one altogether. Christian Bale seems to be the only one who cares to clear the air around the increasing host of speculations and rumors about the keenly awaited Batman V Superman.
Batman V Superman: not once a real proposition for Bale
Bale's statement that he was never offered to play Batman in the new spinoff seemed a bit iffy at first: no remorse flickered in his perfectly cut statement. "No. I didn't have a single conversation with anybody about ever playing the role again", says Bale. The lack of surprise culminates in his complete support of Ben Affleck, wooed by Zack Snyder to star in the forthcoming Batman V Superman.
Complete support of Affleck
In all likelihood, Affleck was the first choice of DC Entertainment. "I think it's the right decision", opines Bale. But the mystery remains: why would they not even consider Bale, given his rad performances in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight?
All in all, Bale declares his full support to Affleck: "I haven't spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did". Quite the commonsensical colleague, one might say, to give advice even when not asked for.
And a shade of jealousy
It's hard to believe Batman V Superman will ever become a bone of contention between Christian Bale and Ben Affleck. Apparently, Bale is mature enough not to be jealous of something that is not even age-appropriate: "But I'm 40. The fact that I'm jealous of someone else playing Batman"¦ I think I should have gotten over it by now", says Bale.
