Recent rumors suggested that the title of the seventh mainstream X-Men installment would be X-Men: Supernova. However, Simon Kinberg told Slash Film that this isn't the case.
The writer/producer explained that Supernova is nothing more than a codename for the project, not an official title:
It's not called Supernova. One of the things we do when we make these X-Men movies, to be totally candid, is "” any of these movies, it's on Star Wars, too "” is you come up with fake names to throw people off the scent, and when you're out making the movie, the signs that show you where the locations are say Nova, or whatever the fake title is, and people figure it out, and I don't even know why we do it anymore.
But at any rate, it's not called Supernova. That was the code name for it. There's yet another code name now.
Kinberg added that X-Men 7 is in the "early stages of prep". He also reiterated that any rumors that he’ll direct are still "premature".
It appears that Omega Underground may have uncovered some details on the movie’s production, including the start date. They claim to have a new listing that came directly from ACTRA Montreal, a union of professional performers who work in English-language recorded media in Canada.
According to the listing, X-Men 7 production will take place in Quebec from this June 4 until sometime in October. Twentieth Century Fox is currently using Teen Spirits as the movie's working title or codename, and Dark Phoenix could be another production title. Check out the screenshot below!
