Wasp is, in the comics, the superhero persona of Janet Van Dyne, none other than Hank Pym's wife. She has the power to shrink, but also to grow in size, and shoot energy blasts on top of that.
We know all that. What we didn't know so far is whether Wasp would show up in this year's adaptation of Ant-Man for the big screen.
Back in mid-April, we got word from JoBlo that Wasp won't come out to play in Peyton Reed's venture. They seemed pretty confident about a Wasp-free flick, making fans wonder whether this is a way of setting a possible sequel which would make room for the flying superheroine.
But now a contradictory buzz emerged on the web: we might eventually see Wasp in Ant-Man. And someone is 100% sure.

Wasp confirmed by Kevin Feige. But not officially
Cinemablend reports that in a private talk with a group of film reporters, Kevin Feige revealed precisely that, also giving details about how Wasp's story impact the father-daughter relationship between Pym and Hope.
"It factors in in a number of spoilerish ways, but we will see Janet Van Dyne in action in this film, and part of sort of what happened to her – and then we will understand why that is the reason that [Hank] doesn't want his daughter to follow in those footsteps".
Adding that "Another very logical question in the movie is "˜Why are you hiring this ex-con to put on your suit and do this?' The answer is because he has abilities in cracking security networks and in pulling off heists that nobody else has, which is really why he has to do it, but"¦ ["¦]"
Yes, there is a "but": "["¦] Hope is infinitely more capable of actually being a superhero in the beginning of this film, and we learn sort of, that's ultimately when Hank reveals for the first time, to the audience and even the first time to Hope, what actually happened in the past, and why he's so nervous about putting on that suit".
So, in this line of reasoning, Paul Rudd's Scott Lang gets to become the Ant-Man because Hank Pym is so overprotective of his daughter.
Which, of course, leads to this one question: will Hope Van Dyne carry her mother's legacy and become a new Wasp? If so, will that happen in this year's Ant-Man?
Feige's answer is like this: "There are things that we see towards the end of the film that indicate she could get one of her own".
What's not clear, but could be inferred with a certain degree of certitude, is if we'll get to see Wasp, she's going to be Janet - the mother - not Hope. And, from what Feige says, she'll be in some sort of flashback rather than in the ongoing real life action of the movie.
