With less than ten months remaining before Thor: Ragnarok rolls into theaters, an official synopsis has surfaced online! While the synopsis offers us a clearer idea about the plot, it also confirms a number of existing rumors about the movie.
As previous rumors suggested, Chris Hemsworth's titular superhero won't be in possession of Mjolnir at the beginning of the November 3, 2017 release. We’ll see him being held captive in a cosmic prison far away from both Earth and Asgard, with the latter being on the verge of destruction.
The Norse God of Thunder will indeed encounter a familiar face, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, during his imprisonment, but it apparently won’t be a very pleasant experience. The two Avengers will have to battle each other in a gladiatorial arena in Thor: Ragnarok! Here's the official synopsis for you:
In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok"”the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization"”at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger"”the Incredible Hulk!
The official synopsis not only confirms certain rumors about the Taika Waititi flick, it also debunks a few. For instance, the report that claimed that Ragnarok would be the name of the planet where Thor and Hulk are held captive doesn't seem valid anymore.
There's also no mention of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, who has quite an extended role in the movie, according to a recent report. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that it won't happen.
Apart from the official synopsis, Marvel has also released a brand new behind-the-scenes photo featuring the director and his star. Check it out below!
