The first Avengers: Infinity War teaser was screened for select audiences at 2017's D23 Expo and San Diego Comic Con, but Disney and Marvel haven't made any footage available to the larger audience. So those who didn’t attend the conventions haven’t had the opportunity to see the full extent of Thanos’ power.
Of course, we all read the footage descriptions that flooded the internet almost as soon as the teaser was screened. But that certainly doesn’t compare with actually seeing it.
We’re still hoping the teaser turns up online, but when will that happen? Principal photography for Avengers: Infinity War finished in the summer. At that point, we believed that the studio would follow its usual formula and release the first trailer in October.
However, here we are in November, and the clip is still nowhere to be seen. Rumor had it that it would be released along with Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, but that didn’t happen, either. Other rumors say that the teaser will accompany the final episode of Inhumans as a much-needed ratings booster. But still other rumors say that it will come in early December, with the new season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Lastly, there is hope that the footage will be online by the time Star Wars: The Last Jedi is released.
What do the Russos have to say about this long wait? We know that a new trailer is being readied for release to the larger audience who may have missed the aforementioned conventions. Apparently, the directors don't want to rush things.
So their tease compares this footage with a good wine. The fans will just have to wait for it to mature:
This could be seen as trolling, but this Orson Welles ad leads us to believe that we won't have to wait much longer for the trailer to drop.
Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018.
