The 10 Most Exciting Potential Battles In Captain America Civil War

Obviously, Captain America: Civil War will pit two teams of Avengers against each other. Team Captain America (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Agent 13, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man) will take on Team Iron Man (Iron Man, War Machine, Vision, Black WidowBlack Panther and, potentially, Spider-Man), and it will be epic. And there are a number of specific battles throughout the course of the movie.

Some of these battles will be intimate and personal, while others will be quite a bit larger in scale – Team Captain America versus Team Captain America: The Final Showdown being the obvious one, which we’ll be leaving off this list – but each has the potential to be awesome.

This article will contain ten potential Captain America: Civil War fights that we are particularly excited about seeing.

Black Widow vs. Agent 13

Very few female versus female fights have taken place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date (Nebula versus Gamora is the main one that springs to mind), but with two former female S.H.I.E.L.D. agents on opposing sides in Captain America: Civil War, this one looks inevitable.

Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff, will side with Iron Man, while Agent 13, aka Sharon Carter, will side with Captain America. And the pair are bound to come to blows with each other.

Given the abilities displayed by each character in the MCU to date, you would expect Black Widow to emerge victorious rather comfortably, but we’re sure the people behind the movie will make it more interesting than that. Either way, it will be cool to see two of the most formidable women in the franchise going toe-to-toe.

This isn’t the only one-on-one fight for Black Widow that we’re looking forward to seeing, however…

Black Widow vs. Hawkeye

Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff, and Hawkeye, aka Clint Barton, go way back. Since they were first on screen together in 2012’s The Avengers, they’ve discussed their history (Budapest, for example) and are clearly close.

They did actually come to blows in that movie when Hawkeye was being mind-controlled by Loki, but Captain America: Civil War will make a fight between the pair a very different proposition.

They’re on opposite teams (initially, at least) and will inevitably and begrudgingly have to fight against each other without the influence of mind control. It will be a very personal battle between the friends – and goodness knows what it will do to their relationship in the long-term. It will be interesting, regardless.

And now for another very personal battle…

Black Panther vs. Bucky Barnes

Chadwick Boseman makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War – and that’s an exciting prospect in itself – but the fact that he appears to be coming with a vendetta makes things even more interesting.

Apparently, Bucky Barnes will be the one who killed his father T’Chaka – while he was being mind-controlled by HYDRA as the Winter Soldier, of course – and Black Panther will want a piece of him as a result.

Inevitably, the two will battle – and it is sure to be spectacular. The fight scenes between Bucky and Captain America in Captain America: The Winter Soldier looked great, and Black Panther looks to be every bit Cap’s equal.

And now we come to two tech-enhanced Avengers, potentially going head-to-head…

War Machine vs. Falcon

Iron Man’s best buddy War Machine, aka James “Rodey” Rhodes, is sure to go head-to-head with Captain America’s new buddy Falcon, aka Sam Wilson. The two characters both rely on armor/tech for their powers, and this fight could be very interesting as a result.

Both men can fly, and while War Machine is more heavily armored and possesses more weapons, the equalizer could come in the form of his mechanical avian ally, Redwing.

In the comic books, Redwing is an actual bird, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe version is drone of sorts, and we’ve yet to see it in action. It could be Falcon’s secret weapon and could make this fight a lot more interesting than it would be otherwise.

And now for a potential battle between two extremely powerful potential lovers…

Vision vs. Scarlet Witch

Vision and Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, are by far the two most powerful characters taking part in Captain America: Civil War. Vision will be siding with Iron Man, while Scarlet Witch will be siding with Captain America, and that’s a good thing – because if they were on the same team, that team would surely win easily.

They will inevitably fight each other, as nobody else on either team is truly capable of standing up to either of them. It should be pretty epic, with lots of powers to show off (perhaps some that have been unseen so far, as well).

What will make their battle more interesting is the fact that they are lovers in the comic books and a romance between them was hinted at in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It remains to be seen exactly what will happen in the future between them, but they will definitely fight.

And now for the first team fight on this list…

Cap’s Team vs. Crossbones’ Team

It is generally expected that the need for the Sokovia Accords will come from the fact that a team led by Captain America will fight a team led by Crossbones early in Captain America: Civil War and, thanks to Crossbones, an event will occur that kills a lot of civilians.

The battle is sure to be great – Captain America and Crossbones, aka Brock Rumlow, have a history stemming from their conflict in Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and we can’t wait to see it.

Rumlow will surely have some new abilities on display, by virtue of the fact that is clearly augmented by the suit he is wearing – and the fact that he will have backup will make the battle very interesting. Exactly who Captain America will have on his team at this point remains to be seen, but it’ll certainly be cool to see them fighting a small army.

And now for another villain…

Everyone vs. Baron Zemo’s Forces

The main villain of Captain America: Civil War is set to be Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo. The character will make his debut in the movie and, up until now, has remained completely under wraps, even absent from the trailers and the set photos that have been released.

It is largely expected that he will be behind the Sokovia Accords in a bid to prevent the Avengers from meddling in his plans whenever they please. And there’s every possibility that the two teams led by Captain America and Iron Man will reunite to face him and his forces at movie’s end.

It’s by no means certain that it will happen – Zemo might end up being a bit-part character like Baron Strucker in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which would be massively disappointing. But if it does take place, it’s sure to be epic.

And now for a character we really can’t wait to see in this movie…

Ant-Man vs. Whoever!

Ant-Man’s 2015 introduction was one of the surprise comic book movie successes of the new millennium. Along with Guardians of the Galaxy, it was a concept that wasn’t guaranteed to work on the big screen, but Marvel Studios pulled it off brilliantly, and it was a major critical success.

This will be the first movie in which Paul Rudd’s character – real name Scott Lang – will be fighting alongside other heroes, and we really, really can’t wait to see it.

It remains to be seen exactly which foe he will face in direct combat, but his unique brand of humor and surprisingly potent power will make any fight he does have extremely entertaining for audiences around the world.

And now for an absolutely epic encounter between two sets of great friends…

Iron Man and War Machine vs. Captain America and Bucky Barnes

An epic encounter is sure to ensue between the two team leaders, Captain America and Iron Man,  accompanied by their respective best friends, Bucky Barnes and War Machine, aka James “Rhodey” Rhodes. Undoubtedly, these four will face off.

On paper, the armored duo should win easily, but Captain America makes it his business to fight above his level – his shield can work as a leveler, anyway. Bucky is certainly no slouch, either. It should be an awesome fight.

In fact, if the trailers are anything to go by, it looks like Rhodey could be left incapacitated by the battle, leaving Tony Stark to battle the World War II duo alone.

But then the question is “Will he actually be alone?” We doubt it, and here’s why…

Iron Man and Spider-Man vs. Captain America and Bucky Barnes

The trailers for Captain America: Civil War show Captain America and Bucky Barnes overpowering Iron Man in a two-on-one beatdown – probably after the World War II duo have disposed of War Machine. However, it is strongly believed that help will arrive for Iron Man in the form a spectacular new hero.

Spider-Man is expected to turn up to save the day, making it Iron Man and Spider-Man (wearing the Iron Spider armor, perhaps?) versus Captain America and Bucky Barnes. This would be a truly epic fight, but one that will surely swing in Iron Man’s favor.

Spider-Man is likely to have a successful start in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s difficult to see him losing – although whether this will reflect the final outcome of the Civil War remains to be seen (it’s unknown which side Spider-Man will even be on at the end of the movie, truth be told).

Either way, we can’t wait to see Tom Holland’s Webbed Wonder in action!
