When Taika Waititi was brought to direct Thor: Ragnarok, fans knew that the Thor threequel will be nothing like the previous films. And they were right. For a change, Marvel did a great movie about its God of Thunder.
However, given the fact that Ragnarok could be the end of the Thor franchise, will Marvel hire Taika Waititi for another project? The fans surely hope so! And that especially if the studio has plans for other adventures set throughout the galaxy.
Even if it was a shock for everybody, James Gunn's firing also brought with it a new opportunity. When it became clear that the studio won't revert its decision, the fans saw Taika Waititi as the best replacement. After all, many considered that the wacky tone of Thor: Ragnarok could fit the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
But, of course, this was just the fans' wishes.
Nonetheless, as it turned out, Taika Waititi did meet with Marvel for another project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director recently met with the studio's execs to helm another movie. The news was reported at the same time with the announcement that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was put on hold.
So could this be a coincidence? It could be. We don't know anything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next phase of movies. We can expect for quite a few sequels to be released, but other new movies are also in development.
Taika Waititi could direct any of these new movies.
But, at the same time, he could also be a frontrunner for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The franchise has already made more than $1.6 billion worldwide and the studio surely wants to continue making money with it.
But what do you think? What project could Taika Waititi direct for Marvel next?
Do you also believe that he should helm Guardians of the Galaxy 3?
