The Superhero Fights of 2014

Quicksilver - the coolest superhero

2014 had four superhero movies - well, five if we are to consider Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And these four movies had their fair share of action sequences - but which ones were the best? Which superhero fights were the most awesome?

We've had Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (unfortunately), X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy.

We have seen the Winter Soldier in action, just like we have seen Electro and the Green Goblin, the Mark X Sentinels and Ronan the Accuser - here are our four picks for the best superhero fights of 2014.

4. Spider-Man vs. Electro

While this place should be taken by their second and final fight, it was a bit disappointing - that's why their first encounter takes the 4th spot. It can be seen as a promise and it was teased heavily in the trailers and the clips released prior to the movie's debut on the big screens.

3. Star Lord vs. Ronan the Accuser

For some, this might not even be considered a fight - and that is because, frankly, it wasn't one. Star Lord had no chance in face of Ronan, simply because he is not the typical super-powered superhero. So instead of going toe to toe with the villain, Star Lord distracts him by using his"¦ pelvic sorcery, if we might paraphrase Gamora: a dance off which throws Ronan off the track.

Yeah, this was definitely not your average comic book movie.

2. Captain America vs. Winter Soldier

This was a standoff many of the fans foreseen even from the first Captain America movie. And it lands on the second place because it was fight Steve Rogers was meant to lose. His intention was not to defeat Bucky Barnes, but to remind him who he was - not just an assassin without a past, but a tragic character.

1. X-Men vs. Mark X Sentinels

Take your pick - whether it is the first fight from the movie or the final one, X-Men: Days of Future Past delivered and then some. We saw quite a few superpowers displayed, as well as how one should act in the face of inevitability. All the X-Men dies and all of them live - and this will lead to another epic fight in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse (and 2016 announces itself to be filled with awesome superhero fights, since 7 movies in this genre will be released).

Of course, the Quicksilver vs. guards scene is also a memorable one - not just because it was yet another awesome fight in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but also because (basically) it is the best scene of the year.
