Spider-Man 2 Eulogized By Kevin Feige

Spider-Man

Spider-Man's recent history is pegged out by two most momentous episodes: his return to Marvel following the Spidey summit in February, and the official announcement of Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man earlier this month.

Anyone can imagine the deal Marvel stroke with Sony is not a bump-free ride, but so far things unfolded smoothly, with one cameo confirmed for Civil War and a solo debut in 2017.

And, despite all theories and speculations, Kevin Feige himself, the very boss of Marvel, is not ready to sweep under the carpet the web slinger's Sony age.

On the contrary, he speaks highly of both the current relation to the "rival" studio and the cinematic heritage they built for the franchise. Hit 2 to get the details!

Spider-Man 2, "one of the best superhero movies ever"

Kevin Feige recently sat with Superhero Hype, and some details about Spider-Man were dropped, despite the fact the main subject matter was the upcoming Ant-Man.

So, is the partnership between the two studios beneficial to the yet to be titled reboot? Feige couldn't have been happier:

"We're producing that movie for Sony and in partnership with Amy Pascal, so it's been going through the same process of any other Marvel film would, and it's been great. Tom Rothman at Sony has been very supportive in the decisions and obviously the two big ones we announced this week."

He also added: "Right now, it's all about producing the new stand-alone Spider-Man movie ["¦] That's what Sony is focused on. That's what we're focused on, and whatever happened before that or after that, sort of remains to be seen, but it's all about producing the best Spider-Man movie we can, certainly within the Sony Universe, next July" in response to whether the wall crawler will drag other connected characters into the MCU.

But one thing is certain: while they will re-create the character - it's not for nothing that it's going to be a reboot - Marvel will relate to Spider-Man's cinematic past. In Feige's words:

"We're going to have it be its own thing but some of those Spider-Man films"¦ I think Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero movies ever, so that's a lot to live up to.

So, yes, if you ever wondered about Feige's personal grid of cinematic values, you can take that off your chest: Spider-Man 2 obviously tops the bill! But did you expect the partnership to work so smoothly?
