According to a recent report from Deadline, Sony officially confirmed that the title of the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will be Spider-Man: Far From Home.
About a week ago, actor Tom Holland (Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man) posted a video via Instagram in which he displayed an iPad with Spider-Man: Far From Home emblazoned on the screen. He acted as though he’d accidentally spilled the beans, living up to his King of Leaks nickname.
Most of us were fairly certain that it was no accident, but a unique new way Marvel and Sony had come up with to dramatically unveil the sequel’s title. But some fans feel that the whole thing was a prank, and the actual official title will be revealed later.
We’ve been hearing for some time that a good portion of the movie’s events will take place far from Peter’s home in Queens. Marvel President Kevin Feige even hinted that Peter and his friends will head off to Europe, either on their summer vacation or on a school-related field trip.
The movie’s plot remains largely unknown, but it's possible that Peter might meet big baddie Mysterio on his travels through Europe. Although the supervillain is a US citizen in the comics, it’s not unheard of for such changes to occur in film adaptations. In another interesting bit of Mysterio-related news, Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks about taking on the role.
