Gambit is scheduled to hit the theaters on the second half of 2016 but the movie has not only kicked off its filming but also it hasn't confirmed a director. But Simon Kinberg, the spearhead of 20^th Century Fox's X-Men Universe, has offered some new insights and tidbits on the Channing Tatum starrer flick which would hopefully bring some relief to the fans worried about the movie.

While talking to Collider, Kinberg explained how Gambit will be different from the other movies of their superhero universe. He started off labeling the Ryan Reynolds starrer Deadpool to have an "˜almost antithetical tone to the mainline X-Men movies'. Kinberg went on to say:

"The X-Men movies are dramatic and almost operatic, whereas Deadpool is irreverent and hysterical and sort of a dirty R-rated comedy in many ways."

Now, how is Gambit different from those two different types of movies? The writer/producer added:

"And Gambit will have its own different flavor and tone to it, will be more of like a heist movie and a sexy thriller in a way."

They have a Director but Deal not DONE!

Ever since Rupert Wyatt dropped out, Gambit hasn't filled up the vacancy of its director's post. Doug Liman is reported to be nearing a deal to helm the movie but Fox has kept mum on the matter. And Simon Kinberg, too, didn't comment about Liman's involvement to the project but he did say this:

""¦we have a director in and I don't know if I'm allowed to say who it is yet because his deal isn't done, but it's somebody we're excited about, and somebody I adore, and hopefully we can make an announcement soon about that."

Kinberg further added that he, along with Channing Tatum, co-producer Reid Carolin, screenwriter Joshua Zetumer and the particular director, have been "˜spending a lot of time together' working on the script.

Gambit to Kick off Filming Next Spring!

Even though Gambit was about to kick off its filming this fall, Kinberg revealed that it isn't happening that soon. He hopes that the movie will start filming "˜next spring'. He also confirmed that the October 7, 2016 release date for the movie is no longer valid.
