Twentieth Century Fox might have delivered a crackerjack Deadpool standalone movie earlier this year, but there’s still one thing left for them to do to really get the fans excited. And that is to sign a deal with Marvel Studios that would allow the Merc with a Mouth to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
We don't like the studio politics that prevent Marvel Comics characters from interacting with others on the big screen. We don’t want to hear excuses about RIGHTS! Well, the Russo Brothers, the directors of Captain America: Civil War, are also comic book fans and they, too, would love to see the Merc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During a recent Q & A session at the Screen Junkies offices (via Comic Book), Joe Russo said, “We’d love to see Deadpool jump into the MCU. But that’s probably all I have to say about that.” Anthony Russo, who, unlike Joe, has seen Deadpool, added, “The great thing about Marvel is that there is an attitude of nothing’s impossible…but that doesn’t mean everything is possible; you just have to chase it.”
During the Q & A, the Russo Brothers also revealed that they are "very good friends" of Deadpool director Tim Miller. They have worked together before.
Well, it's understandable that the directors don't want to promise anything. The relationship between Fox and Marvel is not as friendly the one between Sony Pictures and Marvel. But even before the deal to return Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was signed, hardly anyone wanted to speak about the possibilities.
But now, filmmakers from both sides are publicly wishing for a crossover. Tim Miller and Simon Kinberg have expressed their desire to see Deadpool and the X-Men crossover to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We can consider this a good sign, can’t we?
