For a while now, we’ve been hearing that the untitled third installment of the Wolverine film series will be Hugh Jackman's last appearance as Logan. The Aussie actor has even proposed Tom Hardy as his successor.
But are we really going to see the role of Logan recast in the X-Men Universe? That's something many of us would find unthinkable. We’ve seen Jackman portraying the mutant for more than a decade and a half. Understandably, the thought of anyone trying to fill his shoes is of great concern.
Not only is this of concern to us, it is also of great concern to the X-Men Universe spearhead, Simon Kinberg. In a recent interview with Digital Spy, here's what the writer had to say:
I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories. So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward.
So, Simon Kinberg still hopes for Hugh Jackman to reconsider his “One Last Time” decision. He concluded by saying:
Honestly, I can’t imagine anybody else playing the part, and there’s not too many characters I can say that for.
Will Hugh Jackman Return as Wolverine in a Deadpool Sequel?
The first time we saw Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. We saw Deadpool and Wolverine fight against each other in that movie. So, Jackman's decision to quit playing his mutant character obviously closes the door on a rematch between the two. Or does it?
In a recent Yahoo interview, Hugh Jackman was asked if he would consider donning the claws in a sequel to the Merc with a Mouth standalone flick. This is how the actor responded:
I've never thought about it till now, but doing something with Ryan - he's awesome - that's always attractive to me. But I think you've probably got several other people lined up to play [Wolverine]"¦
