Over the last few weeks, journalists who visited the Thor: Ragnarok set have made quite a few reveals about the movie and its main characters. Although we’d like to believe that we know how the movie will begin and end, there are still plenty of surprises in store. For example, we still don't know what Sam Neill’s role will be.
According to the most recent reports, another star will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Thor: Ragnarok! The Weekly Planet podcast revealed that Taika Waititi managed to squeeze in a very surprising cameo by an actor who’s usually linked to the DC Extended Universe!
That actor is none other than Matt Damon, and his character will be Loki! And we all believed that his friendship with Ben Affleck would land him a role in The Batman!
According to the podcast, Matt Damon’s appearance in Ragnarok will be brief. Apparently, the movie will feature a scene that takes place in Asgard in which actors in a play depict the events of the first Thor movie. Matt Damon portrays the God of Mischief in the play, but it remains to be seen who will wind up playing Thor. And we’re curious about whether Sam Neill will also appear in the “play”.
This is exactly the kind of comedy we would expect from Taika Waititi!
Of course, the Weekly Planet heard about Damon’s cameo from a source who has already seen a first cut of the movie. So, as usual, take it with a grain of salt. But wouldn’t it be great to know the Asgardians' take on Loki's first treachery?
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
