Captain America: Civil War brought Vision (Paul Bettany) back on the big screen for the second time after his debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His appearance was not ordinary as the synthetic being appeared in a sweater, fitting so much better among humans. And we can see it in the latest promotional clip for Civil War!
Asked if the street clothes were a way to get rid of the costume, Paul Bettany explained that he had to wear it anyway.
“The funny thing is that you have to wear it underneath anyway, so that didn't work out well for me,” the actor explained.
Bettany talking about Vision’s development and his trying to blend among humans
“But we were talking about what Vision might be doing in this movie, and I think it's a logical progression for him to be, having been sort of - you know, he's born in the last movie, and is naïve and omnipotent at the same time, and that's interesting, and where is he gonna go, and I think he's trying to understand what being human is, and what that's like, and he's narrowing it down to this peculiar thing humans have called love, because love gives you loyalty.”
Bettany also thinks that Vision is actually figuring out how humans “work” and he will be more and more important as the movies continue.
“Logic doesn't afford you loyalty necessarily. You know, if new information comes to light, I might flip to the other side. Love gives you loyalty. So I think he's trying to figure that out, and I think that's gonna be really important as the movies continue.”
