Deadpool 2 was originally scheduled to kick off production late last year, but it encountered a major delay when original director Tim Miller stepped down. However, with John Wick co-director David Leitch at the helm, the sequel is finally moving into production this month. As that day approaches, they’ve added a new member to the cast roster.
Deadline has reported that Japanese-Australian actress Shioli Kutsuna has sealed a deal with 20th Century Fox to star in Deadpool 2. The studio hasn't identified her character, but they have confirmed that she signed on for a "key role".
Kutsuna recently played Mika in the Josh Hartnett starrer Oh Lucy!, which premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival. She’s also set to appear in the upcoming Jared Leto crime thriller The Outsider. In addition, she has starred in numerous Japanese ventures on both big and small screens.

The 24-year-old actress is the second new cast member for Deadpool 2 in less than a month. The first was Jack Kesy (The Strain), who will play a big baddie (rumor has it that it’s Black Tom Cassidy). Zazie Beetz joined the sequel as Domino in March, and Josh Brolin was confirmed as Cable in April.
Morena Baccarin's Vanessa Carlysle, T. J. Miller's Weasel, Leslie Uggams' Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic's Colossus, and Karan Soni's Dopinder will also appear alongside Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth in the upcoming sequel. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are again penning the script for the June 1, 2018 release.
