“Doctor Strange,” the next feature from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hits theatres on November 4, but one fan has given us an early look at a new poster for the film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role.
“Doctor Strange” will reportedly have a huge presence at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, where director Scott Derrickson is confirmed to appear and reveal new footage from the highly anticipated feature.

Twitter user @CooperMCUEX uploaded the above photo of the new poster, which has been seen in multiple theatres around the country. It features Cumberbatch, solo in full costume. The poster’s clearly done its job as a pre-Comic-Con marketing tool, though the star power of Cumberbatch has already ensured huge audience draw when the film debuts in November. Marvel will soon release an official image of the new poster, but this fan’s picture has been making the rounds and increasing excitement about what new information Derrickson will reveal about the film at Comic-Con this week.
Doctor Strange (officially Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange) is a neurosurgeon whose precious hands are compromised in a car crash. No longer able to perform surgeries, he becomes the Sorcerer Supreme, learning from the former master, and is tasked with protecting Earth from a variety of magical dangers. He is among the most mystical characters in the Marvel universe, specifically created to bring a more mysterious, magical aspect to the comics. While he’s trained in martial arts, like several other Marvel heroes, he can also cast powerful spells and possesses magical objects.
Early trailers for the film promise a more ancient, ethereal experience than we’ve had with recent Marvel features. Fans of Cumberbatch’s performances in the “Hobbit” films and the BBC series “Sherlock” are eager to see him bring Doctor Strange to life.
Are you looking forward to “Doctor Strange”? We hope Derrickson will provide plenty of info at the Con to hold us over until November.
