Tyrese Gibson has found his first role in the comic book movie genre - he is set to appear in Sony Pictures' Morbius.
Multiple Hollywood trades are reporting that Gibson, best recognized for his portrayal of Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise and Robert Epps in the Transformers franchise, has entered negotiations to join the Jared Leto-led big-screen adaptation of Morbius the Living Vampire. The name of his character has yet to be revealed, but some details have surfaced on web.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old actor is playing an FBI agent trying to hunt down the living vampire. The outlet suggests that it will be one of the major players in the movie. Judging by the description, it's possible that the character in question is a loosely-adapted version of Simon Stroud, a CIA agent that first appeared in the 1974 issue Creature on the Loose# 30.
It was recently revealed that Mad Men alum Jared Harris would appear in the Daniel Espinosa flick, even though we were provided with no information on the character he would be bringing to life. In their latest report, THR claims that Harris will play the mentor of Leto's character. They also confirm that Adria Arjona (True Detective) will appear as Morbius's love interest, while Matt Smith (Doctor Who) will portray the big baddie, his best-friend-turned-enemy Loxias Crown.
With filming well underway for the July 31, 2020 release in London, Leto has recently shared on social media what could be termed as a teaser to the first look at his version of the Marvel antihero. The photo features the 47-year-old actor as Dr. Michael Morbius, but a clapperboard blocks out most of his face. Check it out below!
