Last month we were informed that Fantastic Four and Creed star Michael B. Jordan has joined the Black Panther movie. It was reported that the 29-year-old actor will be playing a baddie in the Ryan Coogler flick. Marvel Studios didn't comment on the casting.
But in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan confirms that he is indeed starring in Black Panther. He reveals his excitement to be a part of the movie but he manages to keep the details of his role under wraps:
I'm super excited, especially to put a different spin on it. I'm looking forward to working with Ryan [Coogler] once again. It's gonna be a good time.
A day before Jordan's casting was revealed, we came across another report suggesting that Lupita Nyong'o is in negotiations with Marvel to join the Black Panther movie.
It was reported that the 12 Years A Slave and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star is up for the role of the female lead, T'Challa's love interest. The studio refrained from acknowledging this report, too.
But apparently, Jordan has also confirmed Lupita's casting in the February 16, 2018 release!
During a rapid fire round with the Hollywood Reporter, when asked to complete the sentence, "I can’t wait to work with …" Michael B. Jordan responds:
"Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman [in Black Panther.]"
The fact that the actor utters Lupita's name along with that of Chadwick Boseman strongly indicates that she has sealed a deal to join Black Panther. But maybe it’s better to not take anything with certainty until a confirmation comes from either Marvel or Lupita Nyong'o.
