The Hobbit trilogy's Bilbo Baggins and Sherlock's Dr. John Watson - Martin Freeman - is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: Civil War. We have known this for quite a while now, but what we didn't know is the name of his character. But now we know that, too!
Empire confirms that the 44-year-old actor is playing Everett Ross in the May 6, 2016 release! No relation to William Hurt's Thunderbolt Ross, he is a part of an organization named the Joint Counter Terrorist Center.
Haven’t we heard that somewhere before? Of course we have! An initial rumor did suggest that Martin Freeman was playing Everett Ross in Captain America: Civil War. However, we came across a number of rumors later indicating that the English actor would be playing other, different characters, so we weren't 100 percent sure about anything.
In the comic books, Everett Ross first appeared in 1998, and is traditionally a US government stalwart in Wakanda. So, there's ample possibility of seeing him play a broader role in the Black Panther standalone movie scheduled for 2018 release. But MCU has the reputation of moving away from characters’ origins. So, we can’t be sure about this, either.
