During a recent interview with Yahoo while promoting Spotlight (see this movie!!!), Mark Ruffalo was asked to talk about his involvement in the MCU as well. So, first of, he talked about Joss Whedon, who cracked his character, as well as the Avengers, even if it was such a difficult task. However, we also expressed his trust as far as the Russo brothers are concerned, the duo directing both the Infinity War movies.
Obviously, the Hulk will be present in both of them, according to Mark Ruffalo. When asked whether or not the fans will see a third Hulk solo film, the actor said that he doesn't really believe that - simply because this is Hollywood and the rights for the character are split (in some way) between Marvel and Universal.
However, the actor assured the fans that Hulk's arc in the following 3 Marvel movies will feel like an actual solo flick: "But we've worked a really interesting arc into "˜Thor 3"², "˜Avengers 3"² and "˜4"² for Banner that I think will - when it's all added up - will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie." Not what we'd expect, though"¦
As far as we know, the third (and most likely) final Thor flick will partially adapt the Planet Hulk storyline. And while we don't really believe that we'll see too much fighting between the Hulk and characters such as Caiera or Silver Surfer, we do hope that a bigger portion of the flick will be dedicated to him
Afterwards, if the character will indeed have his own interesting story, we guess there will be some fans to cut just the scenes in which the Green Goliath appears and paste them together"¦ As said, he will sort of have his own solo movie.
Talking about Thor: Ragnarok, the actor also said that the script isn't yes written, though they are meeting to see what fits and what not. Mark Ruffalo also praised Taika Waititi who will direct the next Thor installment and who is best known for his hilarious What We Do in the Shadows: "That's a surprise and it fits part of this Marvel doing the unexpected, casting the unexpected, and now bringing in the unexpected for writer and director. I'm really interested in where that's going. They're writing the script now. I am thinking about it, I'm doing script meetings and stuff so we're starting to prep it."
For the moment, though, you can check out Mark Ruffalo in Spotlight and catch him later on in Now You See Me 2.
