Kevin Feige’s Grandmaster/Collector Team-Up Hopes

The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced the first Elder of the Universe during a Thor: The Dark World credits scene. At that time, Benicio del Toro played the Collector in The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy, and he’s also confirmed for 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

In 2017, Thor: Ragnarok introduced another Elder of the Universe, the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), and he stole just about every scene. He isn't in possession of an Infinity Stone as his brother the Collector is (thus making an Infinity War appearance necessary), but it’s probable that he’ll pop up in future MCU movies.

But someone who can actually make this happen really wants to see it happen. Asked about a team-up between Grandmaster and The Collector, MCU head Kevin Feige expressed his enthusiasm:

It would be awesome, man. It would be great. We love the idea that they're brothers. If you go on the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout attraction at California Adventure in Anaheim, you will see a picture on Collector's wall of him and the Grandmaster playing some sort of a space chess game, which right now is the only place you can see the two of them in a frame together, but let's hope that changes someday (Fandango).

If Feige says that he hopes the two actors appear together in a Marvel movie, then it could happen. Right? He’s also said that he'd like to make a Black Widow film, but as we’re getting closer to the end of three MCU phases, Black Widow's solo adventure is still nowhere to be seen.

As we know, the MCU will turn its focus toward more cosmic adventures after Phase III ends. Who knows? Maybe the brothers/Elders of the Universe really will share the screen in a future flick.
