James Gunn is one of those directors known for sharing with his fans the most unimportant pieces of information. For example, yesterday on Facebook, the Guardians of the Galaxy director said that he just shot a very impressive scene featuring Star Lord (Chris Pratt) and whatever character Kurt Russell is playing. Basically, James Gunn said, “I cannot show you – they are in their costumes – but it was magnificent and really exciting.”
Really, James Gunn?
As said, pretty much useless (but exciting, nonetheless) pieces of information.
Later on the same day, the director also released a storyboard from Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II, in which we presume that Star Lord meets his father. If we piece this together with what he said about the Kurt Russell scene, did the storyboard actually reveal who the father is?
Here is what the storyboard says: "My mom always said my dad was from the stars." Which is nice. What isn't nice is the way James Gunn drew the storyboard. Check it out below!
We are in no way artists and we do know that this is just a tease, with the storyboard intentionally being drawn as if by a 2 year old kid. But did James Gunn draw a cocoon there? Is it possible that in the MCU, Star Lord's father is Adam Warlock?
We know that this character exists in this shared universe, because James Gunn himself revealed after the first Guardians of the Galaxy that his cocoon can be seen in the Collector's base. But can you picture Kurt Russell as Adam Warlock?
Another rumor says that the thing in the storyboard isn't a cocoon at all. Instead, some people say that it looks more like a cradle, with giant wings only suggested above it. And if that is indeed Star Lord's father, could his identity be the one and the same with Starhawk's? We have no idea - but it is most certainly interesting.
