A month ago, if someone asked you when Deadpool 2 would move into production, you wouldn't have hesitated to say in response, "Early 2017". But things have changed in the last few weeks, and now you wouldn't be so sure. Tim Miller, who directed the original movie, walked away from the sequel a couple of weeks ago, leaving 20th Century Fox one more significant step away from hiring actors for the Cable and Domino roles - now they must find a new director.
But it seems that despite having lost its director, Deadpool 2 is still looking to move into production as previously planned. According to the Vancouver production website What's Filming, the project is set to kick off production in and around the Canadian city in January 2017. Check out this screenshot of the website's page featuring the list of movies and television shows that will soon begin filming in Vancouver and British Columbia:

If this is true, Fox must be really confident about finding the right individuals to helm Deadpool 2 and play Cable and Domino. We have heard the names of three directors they’re considering for the sequel. While John Wick director David Leitch is the "strong frontrunner", The Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard and Magnus Martens, director of episodes of television shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage, Good Behavior and Banshee, are also potential candidates.
Numerous actresses, including Now You See Me 2 star Lizzy Caplan, Baywatch star Kelly Rohrbach, Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella, and American Sniper star Sienna Miller, have reportedly auditioned for the role of Domino in Deadpool 2. According to a report, Bloodline star Kyle Chandler was Tim Miller's choice for the role of Cable, but lead actor Ryan Reynolds was against it. Now that Miller has departed, it seems unlikely that they would sign Chandler for the role.
